(Greenland, NH)
Dear Editor,
At New Generation, it has
been a busy year of events, changes, and growth. We want to
pause briefly and share some of the things we are thankful
for, and wish the greater Seacoast a safe and happy New
Year. Thanks for:
·
food on the
table, a roof over our heads, and companionship of the
community as we provide help and hope for young families so
they may find stability, affordable housing, and daycare.
·
volunteers who
continue coming back to fix and maintain the house (thanks
Dave), cover the office, help the daycare staff, drive
residents to housing and doctor’s appointments, and prepare
donations for sale at the non-profit thrift shoppe and
furniture barn.
·
People who
donate food or money, or drop off quality items for resale
in our shoppe and barn.
·
Children who ask
that people donate gifts to New Gen in lieu of a birthday or
holiday present.
·
A hard-working
staff and Board of Directors who see to it that all the arms
and legs of our organization stay on task with all of New
Generation’s goals.
·
a network of
partnering agencies and area housing programs that help our
current and previous residents take the next logical steps
toward better health, permanent housing, education and
self-sufficiency.
·
the Continuum of
Care in New Hampshire and its dedication to keep the
affordable housing crisis in the spotlight until the problem
is solved.
Founded in 1987 by Ruthie
Ford and Sharon Fernald, New Generation Shelter
houses up to seven women and their children at a time,
offering onsite case management, parenting education,
transportation, and aftercare. Additional services include:
a two-bedroom transitional apartment, a daycare, thrift
shoppe, and furniture barn. Next Generation Daycare
serves infant to six-year old children, with a licensed
preschool program, and Title XX slots for families working
towards self-sufficiency. Second Generation Thrift Shoppe
and Generation Gap Furniture Barn offer affordable
clothing, household items and furniture at a low cost. All
proceeds benefit the shelter. As a not-for profit
organization, New Generation does not participate in
politics and operates solely on the basis of a need to
shelter women in crisis. If you are interested in helping
us, please call us at 603-436-4989 or visit our wishlist and

family to yours,
Toni Trotzer,
