SECOND GENERATION OPENS NEW
LOCATION IN ROCHESTER
Nike Bauer Hockey Provides Grant to Assist Non-Profit
Organization
GREENLAND, NH – December 13, 2006 –
Second Generation Thrift Shoppe, a not-for-profit store that
generates funds for New Generation Shelter in Greenland, is
opening a 1,700 SF location in Rochester at 25 Old Dover Road.
Nike Bauer Hockey has granted $10,000 towards a capital fund to
help build additional sources of revenue and sustain the
shelter’s operations. The first thrift shoppe on Route 33 in
Greenland has raised $50,000 annually towards the shelter’s
operating expenses and often has an overflow of donations.
“It is a win-win situation to open the new
store and it is an excellent opportunity to engage new donors
and volunteers within the Rochester community to fulfill our
mission,” said Toni Trotzer, Executive Director of New
Generation Shelter. “Nike Bauer’s grant has opened the door for
matching contributions from foundations and corporations.”
Nike Bauer Hockey Inc., based in Greenland,
New Hampshire, is a leading designer and distributor of hockey
equipment and is a wholly owned subsidiary of NIKE, Inc. based
in Beaverton, Oregon. New Generation, Inc. is a shelter for
homeless pregnant women and mothers with young children that
houses up to seven women and their children, and provides
counseling, parenting education, job skills, nutrition and life
skills onsite. Residents are driven to housing and health
appointments, as well as work, job interviews and education
classes. Other services include Next Generation Daycare and
Preschool, and Second Generation Thrift Shoppe and Generation
Gap Furniture Barn.
Second Generation in Rochester will copy
the Greenland store, selling quality clothing, household goods
and furniture to the community. Project planners hope to open
the second shoppe by January. For donation information call Toni
