SECOND GENERATION THRIFT SHOPPE NOW OPEN! SEEKING
DONATED ITEMS, VOLUNTEERS FOR NEW ROCHESTER LOCATION

GREENLAND, NH – January 2, 2007 – Second Generation Thrift Shoppe, a non- profit store on Route 33 in Greenland, now has a second shoppe open at 25 Old Dover Road, Rochester, next to Sherwin Williams, Community Partners, and Body in Balance. Second Generation in Rochester sells quality clothing, household goods and furniture to the surrounding community. Store manager Janet Hamilton is now accepting applications for volunteers, and community donations to the shoppe are welcome.

The first thrift shoppe opened in 1993 to raise operating funds for New Generation Shelter for homeless pregnant and parenting women and their children. The shelter opened in 1987 and now has a transitional apartment, daycare for 18 children, and two thrift shoppes. The original shoppe now raises $50,000 annually by reselling donations from the community. "The seacoast community has been so supportive of our first shoppe that our decision to expand into a new community was easy," said Hamilton. Annually, 18% to 26% of the shelter’s residents are from Strafford County.
