Volunteers Recognized at New Generation

 

Volunteers were recently honored for their work at New Generation Shelter,
and its services, Next Generation Infant and Toddler Center, and Second Generation Thrift Shoppes.  

 

Monday, June 11, 2007 (Greenland, NH)—Volunteers of New Generation Shelter, Next Generation Infant and Toddler Center, and Second Generation Thrift Shoppes enjoyed a seafood feast last week made by staff members. Executive Director Toni Trotzer did a memorial tribute to volunteer Ralph Hale of Dover, and gave out gifts and certificates of gratitude with Volunteer Coordinator, Priscilla Torella. Sandwiches were donated by Petey’s Seafood of Rye Beach.

This year’s outstanding volunteers include: David Duggan of Rye who gave over 350 hours maintaining all Greenland property, Annie Picard of Exeter who helps weekly at Next Generation, and Marsha Goddard and Linda Mahoney, both of Exeter, who work at Second Generation Thrift Shoppe in Greenland. Other volunteers recognized were: Brian Hamilton, Berwick; Rosemary Tator, Dover; Paul Neveu, Deb & Kevin Davis, Dennis Hanson, Beverly Barney, Robert Smith, Lucretia Ganley, Samantha Andrews, and Anne Witham, of Exeter; Thomas Gillick, Emilia Graceffa, Phil Jarosz, Phil Fili, Betty Callanan, and Andrea Kellerher, of Hampton; Joanne Bisson of Kittery; Laura Dawes of Milton; Judy Redden, Lisa Cote, and Dennis Honan of North Hampton; Kelsi McCarthy of Portsmouth; Gwen Helton, Robin Richard, Vicki Chick, Priscilla Wortman, and Lisa Duffey of Rochester; Ruthie Ford of Rye; and Beth Grappone, Lisa Pearson, Jean McColough, and Janet Swanson of Stratham.

 

New Generation, Inc. is a shelter for homeless pregnant women and mothers with young children that teaches self-sufficiency and gives transportation to other agencies within the Continuum of Care. The shelter houses up to seven women and their children at a time, while giving support in a loving environment, teaching parenting education, job skills and life skills. Residents are driven to housing, health and social service appointments, as well as work, job interviews and education classes. Other services include Next Generation Infant & Toddler Center, and Second Generation Thrift Shoppes of Greenland and Rochester, which sells affordable clothing, household items and furniture to the public. All thrift shoppe proceeds support New Generation Shelter operating costs. New Generation and its services are conveniently located off Rte. 33 in Greenland, NH.
