SHEA-PORTER, ROCHESTER MAYOR, AND SUNUNU REPRESENTATIVE
TO ATTEND GRAND OPENING OF NON-PROFIT THRIFT SHOPPE

ROCHESTER, NH – Friday, February 9, 2007 –Second Generation Thrift Shoppe, a non-profit store on Old Dover Road, Rochester, is planning a Grand Opening Celebration on February 21st at 3PM. Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, Mayor John Larochelle, and Kate Pyle, Community Liason for Senator John Sununu, are planning to attend the ribbon cutting. Second Generation in Rochester sells quality clothing, household goods, toys and furniture to raise operating funds for New Generation Shelter in Greenland. The first shoppe, located in Greenland, now raises $50,000 annually towards operating support by reselling donations from the community. More than 80% of shelter residents originate in Rockingham, Strafford, and Hillsborough Counties, with over 18% from Strafford County.

“The grand opening will feature special guests, great sales, children’s events, and decorating classes,” said Janet Hamilton, manager of both shoppes. “We’re pleased with the community support we’ve already received, and invite families to stop in and check us out.”

 New Generation shelters homeless pregnant and parenting women and their children and has been part of the seacoast’s Continuum of Care for 20 years. The shelter has a transitional apartment, daycare for 18 children, and two thrift shoppes. Next Generation Daycare and Preschool, the original Second Generation Thrift Shoppe and Generation Gap Furniture Barn are located off Route 33 in Greenland. The next major event is the
