Next Generation Daycare Licensed Plus Rating
Monday, August 7, 2006
(Greenland, NH)—Next Generation Daycare & Preschool of
Greenland is now a Licensed Plus childcare facility,
approved by The NH Department of Health and Human Services
for the next three years. Licensed Plus is a new quality
rating system that recognizes NH child care programs for
efforts to improve the quality of care for young children
and rewards programs that strive to improve their practices
and staff qualifications. It also allows families to
identify programs with higher quality. Levels build from a
foundation of minimum standards for licensing to full
national accreditation.
“We are excited to reach this
new standard as we have been strengthening our program and
staff since 2004 with a grant from the Greater Piscataqua
Community Foundation and other funders,” said Ivelisse Roy,
Daycare Director. It has always been our goal to provide the
highest quality daycare to working parents and their
children.”
Next Generation Daycare &
Preschool is working to become accredited by the National
Association for the Education of Young Children. The public
daycare serves 18 children ages six weeks to six years and
is a service of New Generation, a transitional shelter for
homeless pregnant and parenting women. Next Generation
Daycare struggles to meet its operating expenses with the
growing costs of meeting staff to child ratios and accepting
Title XX reimbursements. The reimbursement rate paid to
childcare centers by the State for those eligible for
childcare assistance is currently averaging less than 50% of
the actual costs to provide childcare services, leaving a
significant funding gap that childcare providers are
struggling to fill. A 3rd Annual Women Supporting
Women Golf Tournament fundraiser is planned to raise
operating costs for both the shelter and daycare on
September 18th at Breakfast Hill Golf Club. To
play or sponsor the event, contact New Generation at
603-436-4989 or Beverly Barney, Chairperson, at
603-772-3355.
