Monday, September 17, 2007 (Greenland, NH)—CityYear volunteers and PaxWorld employees worked together to clean up New Generation Shelter’s buildings and grounds during the United Way Day of Caring last Wednesday, reorganizing furniture, moving equipment, and doing landscaping projects. “The group was very helpful to us, getting jobs done that we have no time to complete. Now the barn has room for more donations and our yard looks much better.” New Generation’s executive director Toni Trotzer coordinated the workers with Jacqui O’Hearn, Day Staff. CityYear volunteers included: Bobby Kessling, Lucy Striker, Vernika Leach, Brittney Cross, Robin Thomas, Michelle McMillan, Tyler Dupuis, and Marissa Rodriguez. Pax World volunteers were Janet Lawton Spates, Sue Penney, Cheri Gutowski and Maureen (Molly) Mahoney. New Generation, Inc. is a shelter for homeless pregnant women and mothers with young children that teaches self-sufficiency to its residents. The shelter houses up to seven women and their children at a time, while teaching parenting education, job skills and life skills. Residents are driven to housing, health and social service appointments in the Continuum of Care, as well as work, job interviews and education classes. Other services include Next Generation Infant & Toddler Center, and Second Generation Thrift Shoppes in Greenland and on Old Dover Road in Rochester. All proceeds help support New Generation Shelter operating costs. For further info, email fundraising@newgeninc.org, call 603-436-4989, or visit www.newgennh.com. # # #
