Infant/Toddler Training Seminar to Next Generation Daycare
Teacher
Wednesday, June 01, 2005 (Greenland, NH)—The Division of
Children, Youth and Families has selected Next Generation
Daycare Toddler Teacher Alicia Cayer to attend a week-long
childcare training course through Wheelock College this August.
The 2005 Establishing and Assuring Excellence in Infant and
Toddler Programming Seminar, a college-credit course valued
at $2,000, will be held at Waterville Valley. The seminar is
sponsored by the Child Development Bureau with federal funding
earmarked for the improvement of infant/toddler programs. Upon
successful completion of the seminar, final assignment, and a
follow-up meeting, Next Generation is then eligible to receive a
$4,000 equipment grant.
“Alicia Cayer earned this opportunity through hard work and
dedication as a teacher,” said Daycare Director Ivelisse Roy. “I
am thrilled that she’ll be able to bring back tools from the
training to enhance our current infant and toddler programs.”
The not-for-profit daycare added a State-licensed preschool
program last fall, and serves 18 infant-to-preschool-age
children. Operating expense grants allow the program to offer
Title XX slots for families working towards self-sufficiency.
New equipment will help the program to achieve accreditation
from the National Association for the Education of Young
Children, which promotes excellence in early childhood
education. Accreditation requires a two year program of
self-improvement and self-assessment; The Greater Piscataqua
Community Foundation approved a significant grant in 2004 to
begin that process.
