Wish List October 2008 This is the list in the moment of our needs at New Generation:
Gift cards for gasoline. We have an aftercare part of the program that is currently unfunded. I would like to pay for gas for the volunteers that take the women to seek ‘aftercare’ services, such as: seeking housing, employment applications, unemployment appointments, etc. Gift cards for Target, Walmart, Macy’s, and any pizza places. We don’t have funds to give the residents anything ‘fun’ or to offer them a way of purchasing something of their own choosing. Cash donations to help us replace flooring in the child care center and shelter. The flooring is over 17 years old. It has been cleaned and repaired but now is too worn and especially with the young children on the floor it is immediate. The cost for the child care center’s flooring is approximately $600.00. The cost for the carpet, pad, and installation of the shelter is $6,000.00. That price includes
moving all the furniture, removal and disposal of carpet, installation, replacement of furniture, and carpet. The price could be reduced by $2,000.00 if we could find a group of volunteers to move furniture, remove and dispose of the carpet, and replace the furniture after the install. Eco friendly, non toxic cleaners, laundry soap, laundry softener, single ply toilet paper, paper towels, and 2 sponge mops. Napkins, placemats (8) for special dinner nights. Photo albums for babies (boys) (girls) to be used by the moms for the first photos. Frames for photos. Photo paper to use by office manager to print out the photos for the residents. Ink cartridges (or gift cards to Staples for all the supplies mentioned herein).
