 New Generation Shelter Program

New Generation provides love, respect and care to pregnant homeless women and mothers of young children regardless of race, religion, marital status, disability, or economic status. The home program combines individual and group goals. The residents at New Generation are required to attend our Parenting Education program. While seeking and securing permanent housing, the resident's individual goals may involve parenting or adoption education, getting a job, attending Alcoholics Anonymous, obtaining a General Education Diploma, or applying for college. Group goals include prenatal care, parenting education, nutrition and health education, counseling, and learning daily life skills. New programs include Resident Budgeting Classes and a Resident Computer Education Program.

Daily living revolves around a family-oriented routine. Meals are prepared and shared by the residents. Household tasks are rotated, and residents maintain a busy schedule that includes volunteering in New Generation's Thrift Shoppe and Child Care Facility; attending well-baby and dental visits; participating in full or part-time employment; going on recreational outings; and visiting the various community agencies that facilitate the continuum of care.
